The Spirit of St. Louis was the plane that Charles Lindbergh used to fly the first non-stop flight across the Atlantic. The plane is in the Smithsonian.

Cool photos, that do appear to be original prints. They are not the greatest pics, so it’s possible the seller’s grandfather was in the navy, and just happened to be on the ship that brought the plane back to the U.S, ad snapped a couple shots. Pretty cool find, regardless.

Really ruined it for me when I learned he was an American Nazi.

Grew up in the Midwest and flew out of Lambert Intl in St Louis, which had a replica of the Spirit in the Terminal. Always thought it was crazy he flew that thing essentially blind.
