Fetterman Threatens To Wear a Suit If House ‘Jagoffs’ Can Avoid Government Shutdown

Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., is continuing to mock Republicans over the recent loosening of the Senate dress code.

In a Wednesday post to X, formerly Twitter, the senator vowed to ditch his usual hoodie and shorts for a suit if "jagoffs" in the House avoid a government shutdown at the end of the month.

"If those jagoffs in the House stop trying to shut our government down, and fully support Ukraine, then I will save democracy by wearing a suit on the Senate floor next week," Fetterman tweeted.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., announced last week that he was loosening the dress code for the Senate, causing some protests among Republicans.

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., has struggled to get support behind a federal budget before the fiscal year ends at the end of the month. A number of Republicans are demanding more spending cuts.

Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., blasted a proposed continuing resolution from Rep. Byron Donalds, R-Fla. He's also threatened McCarthy with a motion to dismiss.

Fetterman has been something of a troll for Republicans in recent days He's selling "John Fetterman Body Double" t-shirts as a play on a fringe conspiracy theory that he's been replaced by someone else.

He's also mocked an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden and those upset over the dress code standards being lowered in the Senate.

"I dress like he campaigns," he posted to X this week in response to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, R, objecting to the dress code change.
