Square Enix’s Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is exclusive to PS5 for a period of 3 months, based on the latest information.
The State of Play trailer for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth has now been uploaded to the official Final Fantasy channel on YouTube, and it ends with an additional message regarding the period that the game will remain a PS5 exclusive.
As per the information shared by Square Enix, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will remain a PS5 exclusive until at least May 29, 2024. The mention of “at least” suggests that the exclusivity period could be extended, should the publisher and Sony come to a new agreement, as was the case with Final Fantasy VII Remake. Furthermore, even with no deal extension in place, it will likely take time to port the game to another platform, as suggested by Final Fantasy XVI Producer Naoki Yoshida regarding the latter’s PC release.
It is unknown what other platforms Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will be released on after the PS5 exclusivity period has expired. A PC version is a given, since Final Fantasy Remake had also received a PC port. There are also rumors regarding a Nintendo Switch 2 port of Final Fantasy VII Remake that is already up and running. Former Reset Era member Im A Hero Too, who had previously deleted their account after leaking information regarding several Japanese games that are in development, once again emerged to share that Final Fantasy VII Remake is in development for the Nintendo Switch 2, and that it looks and runs just like the PS5 version on a devkit. They were told that the porting process took no time, and, as a result, it may end up being a launch title for Nintendo’s next console.
They also stated that the Final Fantasy IX remake was originally scheduled for a Summer 2024 release, but they weren’t sure about that anymore, as the game needed some further polishing. They also mentioned that the Final Fantasy X remake has a skeleton crew for development, and that it will not be released in time to coincide with the original’s 25th anniversary.

3 months doesn't seem too bad in my opinion, stinks to have to wait an extra 3 months, but if it nets Square some extra money waiting a few months isn't the end of the world, just hopefully it doesn't then go Epic Game Store exclusive for another 3 or 6 months.

It doesn't seem like the exclusivity has been working out for any of the recent SquareEnix releases. I figure they would sell far more copies if they had a full multiplatform release for their big titles.
