Russia hits Kostiantynivka killing at least 16 people

Russian military hit the town of Kostiantynivka, Donetsk Oblast, killing at least 16 people.

Details: Anonymous Telegram channels reported that the Russians launched a missile attack on the market located in the city centre.

Ukrinform reported that 16 people had been killed and 5 people had been wounded, with reference to the Donetsk Oblast Military Administration.

Update: Zelenskyy posted a video of the Russian attack on the city and confirmed that they had attacked the market and killed 16 people.

Ihor Klymenko, Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, reported that 28 people were injured and 16 died. There is a rescue crew member among the victims.

Klymenko added that the State Emergency Service of Ukraine and the police are conducting a search and rescue operation. The removal of the debris is ongoing. Police paramedics and medics are providing the injured with first aid.

The rescuers have quickly extinguished the fire in the area of 300 m2. Nearly 30 trade pavilions have been damaged.

Updated: The Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine reports that 31 people were injured and 16 killed. The Russians launched an attack at about 14:00.

Quote: "As a result of Russian projectiles striking trade pavilions a fire broke out. As of 16:00, 16 people were killed as a result of the attack. Another 31 people have received injuries of various degrees of severity, the citizens are receiving urgent medical help.

The preliminary reports say 20 stores, power lines, an administrative building and a fifth floor of a residential building have been damaged. Cars and 8 trade facilities have burned down. A search and rescue operation is underway. There are still people under the debris."

Note: The Russians launched an attack on Kostiantynivka on the anniversary of liberation of the city from the Nazi occupiers, celebrated on 6 September.
