U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert will not only face opposition from the other side of the aisle in her second re-election bid next year but now another fellow Republican wants to take her on for the primary.

Attorney Jeff Hurd announced this week that he is throwing his hat into the ring for the Republican nomination for the 3rd Congressional District, which Boebert has represented since January 2021.

He took a veiled swipe at the pugnacious second-term congresswoman in his announcement on X, saying the people of the rural largely Western Slope district deserve a representative who is “committed to consensus-building and has a proven track record of being part of the solution, not creating more problems.”

Hurd, a former board chair for the Grand Junction Area Chamber of Commerce, is a Colorado native. He lives in Grand Junction with his wife and their five children.

Boebert is already facing her previous opponent from the last election, former Aspen City Councilman Adam Frisch, a Democrat. He announced his intention to run against Boebert again in February, just three months after losing to her by less than 600 votes.

And last month, Grand Junction Mayor Anna Stout said she would also launch a campaign on the Democratic side of the ledger against Boebert.

Democrats Debby Burnett, Davi Karpas and Adam Withrow and Republican Russ Andrews have also declared their candidacy in the race. Burnett previously declared her candidacy in the 2022 race, but withdrew before the primary. None have reported raising more than $40,000 for this race, according to federal campaign finance records.

Let's replace Boebert with someone who actually wants to do the job they were elected for, not just another right wing bigot.
