The pre-load date and download size for Bethesda Game Studios’ upcoming action role-playing game, Starfield, have been revealed.

Online retailer Amazon has revealed the pre-load date for Starfield, and both Steam and the Xbox Store have shared the game’s download size at launch.

The download size for Starfield on PC and Xbox Series X|S can be seen below.

As seen above, Starfield weighs in at 125 GB, and will therefore require plenty of space for installation. This may be an issue for those who will be playing the game on an Xbox Series S, where the internal storage drive is relatively limited. Therefore, players are advised to work out their storage space issues in advance. It goes without saying that external SSD options are available for those Xbox players who need them.

The pre-load date for Starfield on PC and Xbox Series X|S can be seen below.

As mentioned above, those who have pre-ordered a digital copy of Starfield can pre-load the game on XSX starting August 9, 2023. The digital pre-load should come with the latest update pre-installed. However, given that the pre-load will arrive nearly a month before the game’s release on September 6, 2023, it’s likely that some additional updates will be rolled out prior to launch.

Previously, it was reported that a fan site had attempted to piece together an approximate version of the galaxy map that will be featured in Starfield, based on pre-release video footage from the game. Bethesda released the first gameplay footage from the game back in June, 2022, which revealed that it features over 100 star systems. The footage included around 6 second of the galaxy map that will be available to players.

Approximately 75 star systems were visible in the footage, with a few of them bearing notable names. Among them were three stars stood as authentic: Sol, Alpha Centauri, and Porrima. This revelation indicated that Starfield’s world is inspired by and situated within the confines of the Milky Way. Consequently, the undertaking at hand involved reconstructing the in-game galaxy map from the data available in the video.

Yeahh.. that’s completely acceptable. I see no issue here.

It’s also not like 2007. Storage is cheap, and fast now.
