With temperatures that in Puglia have exceeded 40 degrees, the approximately 140 employees of McDonald’s of Bari and Casamassima in contact for hours with fryers and other overheating appliances in kitchens will go on strike on Sunday to protest “the absence of a conditioning adequate”. The unions ask “urgently the closed to the public on red dot days and the related use of redundancy fund for workers and workers as required by the provisions Inps until it is possible in a technical solution”.

Ficco and Antonio Miccoli, secretary general Filcams Cgil Bari, underline that “the category has been denouncing for years the lack of an adequate air conditioning system in restaurants and especially in kitchens. Fryers and kitchen machines which in themselves determine the achievement of high temperatures, on days in which the 40 degrees make an implant absolutely necessary ventilation and air conditioning capable of dealing with the situation and guaranteeing a microclimate that preserves the health of workers, as required by current legislation”.

The Filcams CGIL of Bari has “requested several times and insistently also the intervention of public entities in charge of the surveillance of the healthiness of the places of work but the shortage of staff that affects these administrations means that it is not possible to have timely interventions to resolve these critical situations which are now becoming dramatic.
