Larry Nassar, a former USA gymnastics team doctor, has been stabbed in prison, a source told ABC News.

Nassar was stabbed six times in the back and neck on Sunday afternoon, according to a source. He has what one source described as "substantial injuries," including what appears to be a collapsed lung.

He is listed in stable condition, according to two sources familiar with the situation.

The Bureau of Prisons confirmed that an inmate was assaulted on Sunday at the United States Penitentiary Coleman II, a high security federal facility in Florida, and said no one else was injured.

Officials have identified at least one suspect, a fellow inmate, and are looking at evidence including video footage to determine if anyone else was involved, according to a source.

Staff members who were guarding Nassar were working overtime, according to a source briefed on the investigation. The source said this was in part due to staffing shortages at the Bureau of Prisons.

Nassar was housed in a unit with all inmates convicted of sexual assault, according to a source familiar with the situation.

Nassar was convicted of state and federal charges for sexually assaulting members of the USA gymnastics team. He's serving his sentences, which total hundreds of years, at USP Coleman.

As someone who works in a max prison, everyone knew as soon as he was released into GP that this was going to happen. If they told you they didn’t know, they lied. Not only did they know it was going to happen, they likely even knew who (either individual or group) was going to do it.

Hell it wouldn’t surprise me if a CO didn’t slyly mention it to people in GP. They COs are there to protect you but that doesn’t mean they like you. They might just be “a bit tired” that day you entered GP or “they looked away” right before it happened.

Nasser is going to get this treatment the rest of his life. They can only put you in a restrictive status for so many days before you have to go back out. His best chance of not getting the tar beat out of him (or worse) is to try and get a transfer to a facility that has similar status offenders or an even higher security facility that restricts movement more.

He signed up for a life of getting absolutely wrecked every so many days/months. I’m sure that no one will lose sleep on that.

Last night I just watched the video of that father lunging at him in court. Bet he’s real happy about this!

Nassar has been accused of molesting 265 girls and women over two decades under the guise of medical treatment.

Nassar was "physically attacked" within hours after being released into the general population at the United States Penitentiary in Tucson, Arizona.

He abused 265 girls and had child porn people were just waiting for a chance to abuse him just like he always was. Spend the rest of your life alone in a cell because no one wants you around you piece of shit.
