What car is that? Never seen this kind of hood ornament before but it looks great, definitely has a 50s-60s look to it. Work really well in the photo as well with the contrast between the rusted metal and the pristine ornament.
Hi, so this is a 1955 Oldsmobile hood ornament. Jet age styling was all the rage at General Motors at the time and several of their cars had airplane and jet themed hood ornaments. I spotted this example at a car show (it is a running and driving car in original if worn condition), and probably wouldn’t have photographed it except that the “contrails” molded into the hood panel itself stood out among the rusty and cracking paint. I feel that this photo wouldn’t have been so dynamic if the paint was perfect, because those character lines wouldn’t have been so striking.
