SS: at the G7 meeting US president Biden declared '“Everything changed in terms of talking to one another. I think you’re gonna see that begin to thaw very shortly,” Biden confirmed his stance on Taiwan remained unchanged, that the PRC is the only legitimate government of China and the US does not support recognise a Taiwanese declaration of indepence.Although he did refer to Taiwan as 'country' on one occasion. “In the meantime, we’re going to continue to put Taiwan in a position that they can defend themselves. And there is clear understanding among most of our allies that, in fact, if China were to act unilaterally, there would be a response.”

There was also discussion of lifitng sactions of Chinese defense minister Li Shangfu.
