I saw him about six months before he died. I was boarding a United Flight (to / from I can’t remember as I travel a ton for work). He was in his custom rascal scooter and had a big guy with him acting like a chaperone / bodyguard. Verne looked miserable. He looked like everything just hurt and he didn’t want to be doing anything. I felt bad for the guy. Nobody bothered him. I think most people were able to read that he wasn’t well.
