This was reported by Ivan Rusev, Head of the Research Department of the Tuzly Estuaries National Park, and Doctor of Ecology, in a May 1 Facebook post.

Scientists noted that the lesions found on the dead animals are typical of military sonars.

According to Russia’s ‘open’ sources, 77 dead cetaceans have already been counted on the coast of the occupied Crimea since January. Bottlenose dolphins lead the grim statistics, surpassing the Azov and common dolphins that led the category in 2022.

While more than 100 dead animals have already been registered, the actual death toll is much higher, with scientists believing the number exceeds 1,000.

Rusev notes that the mass death of the animals is occurring even with the relatively low activity of the Russian fleet.

"Crazy barbarians – androphages, murderers – have been destroying our cities, towns, and killing people for 432 days," he said.

“Our enemy is the Moscow junta, the Russian fascist regime, which has waged an occupation war against the peaceful Ukrainian people. The rascist mutants and invaders cannot appreciate nature, culture, or free people."
