To say that Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) does not like drag queens would be an understatement.

“Take your children to CHURCH, not drag bars,” she tweeted in June 2022.

In October, she accused “the Biden regime” of “spending $20k on drag shows in Ecuador” and threatened to cut the State Department’s funding over it.

And in August 2022, she made it clear: Stay out of her congressional district.

Well, it turns out she doesn’t govern Colorado’s Third Congressional District and people are still free to do what they want. And what people in her district wanted to do was host a drag queen story hour.

In Glenwood Springs, Colorado this past weekend, the Roaring Fork Divas appeared at a storytime event, and it was a roaring success.

“I think it’s so amazing the work that they’re doing to provide visibility and love in our area,” one parent, Steve Arauza, who attended with his family, told the Post-Independent.

Each of the Roaring Fork Divas picked stories to read that spread messages of self-love and inclusivity. Some of the Divas read in English and some read in Spanish, and there was an American Sign Language interpreter to make the event inclusive for as many people as possible.

“I think it’s so good to look at the good, but it’s imperative to know that our history is not the proverbial rainbows,” said Diva Thelma Thunderthighs. “We’ve had dark times, and that was a dark time. It’s important for the kids to know not to dwell on that, but to know we’ve come a long way.”

“Visibility can be life-saving,” said Kaleb Cook of Cook Inclusive Company, the group that hosted the event. “Visibility teaches that there are many ways to express ourselves and all are OK and is an amazing way to teach individuality, empathy, and acceptance.”

Azaura, who particularly appreciated the bilingual readings since he and his family speak both languages at home, said he couldn’t understand why Boebert wouldn’t want drag queens in her district.

“There was nothing about that event that was inappropriate for my children,” he said. “It is highly inappropriate for bigoted people to sexualize children’s events for political gain, which was the reason why we had to have security as a thing in the first place.”

Take your children to BOWLING ALLEYS, where they can be EXPOSED to ADULT PERVERTS showing of their DICKS, and they MARRY THEM.

Personally drag shows aren't for me but who the hell cares about them? They have been going on for decades if not centuries in this country. Republican have yet to explain why someone in drag dancing around and having fun is suddenly an urgent problem.

We need to just let people live their lives and enjoy themselves. We are only guaranteed one life. Why spend it freaking out about what other people are doing or feeling ashamed by what we enjoy. Who's got time for that? As long as no one is being directly harmed, everyone just needs to mind their own business.
