Hahaha, that's hilarious because next door, in France, Greenpeace and others will explain to you that gas heating is so much better than electric. You can switch to gas (get money to do so), double your heating consumption, and still get a better "energy rating" for your house. (to be precise, to calculate the "rating", 1kWh of heating is counted as 1kWh if it's from gas, but counted as 2.3kWh if electric; and it used to be 2.58)

How will this effect energy costs for the poor?

A lot of you really seem like you just don't understand how radical and extreme the recent innovations that happened in the last 2/3 years in the heat pumps industry are. They are 100% more efficient than any gas heating boiler.

With 100% more efficient than the current gas heating, they mean that even if you put the most theoretically efficient gas heating machine, you will still get literally way less than half of the heating you would get with the same amount of methane if it was put into a gas powerplant and turned into electricity to feed these heat pumps. This is possible because they now get more heat energy that was ever contained in the natural gas itself.Basically they are just that much extremely more efficient

EDIT: Guys just watch this video or anything else instead of asking me, I'm not a professor and definitely i'm not trained to give good answers to your questions lol
