I’ve stayed in a pub called The Golden Fleece, reputed to be the most haunted pub in the Shambles in York. I’m not a believer but woke up at 3:00 am, freezing cold room, daren’t close my eyes in case something was there when I opened them. I had the whole pub available to me as the landlady handed us the keys to the external door and bar door, too scared to go get a drink as no one else was staying in the place. Dawn could not come fast enough as we watched 3 hours of Jeremy Kyle till she came back in the morning to make us breakfast.

York is historically appealing. The Shambles is a nice place to have a walk down
