Ironic because there's huge overlap in the "Don't you even dare regulate my guns" crowd and "Won't you please think of the children!" crowd.

The only cure for this condition is thoughts and prayers

Not trying to take away from the issue, but it's important to recognize that the majority of firearm deaths in children 1-19 years old are from young Black Americans.

I think it's important to recognize that a huge portion of the issue IS centralized around a specific group, because with that information we can work to figure out WHY that is and solve the problems.

In fact, black children 1-19 years of age (Usually revolving around the 16-19 years old age) experience 4.44 times more gun violence than white children, and *every other ethnic group experiences more gun violence than white children as well.

In 2020, black children and children in general between 16-17 were 50% more likely to become homicide victims than in 2018.

White Children homicide rate was 1.3 in 2020, whereas Black Children were a whopping 9.9 per 100,000.

This is due to a lot of things, mainly income and educational disparities leading to the rise in crime and earlier exposure to gun violence because of that.

I'd be wrong not to also include the history of lead poisoning in Black American communities, as high lead content in blood leads to many issues, to include irritability (behavioral issues/violence) and learning difficulties.

If we as a society were to band together, we could change so much by understanding the underlying causes of our violent crime and homicide rates

Edit: Changed African Americans to Black Americans based on multiple responses.

Edit: *Asians or Pacific Islander children had a lower homicide rate than white children at 0.5, I misread the stats on this.
