In the wake of former President Donald Trump warning that there would be “death and destruction” if he is indicted, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg received a death threat letter with suspicious powder, which was later determined to be non-hazardous.

The letter to Bragg, who is investigating Trump for how his hush-money payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels during his 2016 presidential campaign, reportedly read:"ALVIN: I AM GOING TO KILL YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!” The note had an Orlando, Florida, postmark from Tuesday, yet arrived at the DA’s mail room in Manhattan on Friday. The USPS envelope contained not only the letter, but also a small amount of white powder.

“The D.A. has informed the office that it was immediately contained and that the NYPD Emergency Service Unit and the NYC Department of Environmental Protection determined there was no dangerous substance,” a spokesperson for Bragg said in a statement.

The death threat to the DA arrived shortly after Trump warned of what could happen as a result of his potential indictment—in signature exclamation points and emphatic capital letters—on Truth Social on Friday:

“What kind of person can charge another person, in this case a former President of the United States, who got more votes than any sitting President in history, and leading candidate (by far!) for the Republican Party nomination, with a Crime, when it is known by all that NO Crime has been committed, & also known that potential death & destruction in such a false charge could be catastrophic for our Country? Why & who would do such a thing? Only a degenerate psychopath that truely [sic] hates the USA!”

While the letter was sent before this particular Truth Social post was published, last Saturday, Trump took to Truth Social to encourage supporters to “PROTEST, TAKE OUR NATION BACK!” in the case that the hush-money probe results in his arrest. In response to Trump’s incendiary instructions, Bragg sent out an email to employees last week saying, “we do not tolerate attempts to intimidate our office or threaten the rule of law in New York.”

The grand jury is expected to reconvene on Monday, and New York City Courthouses will increase security, according to the Office of Court Administration on Friday.

In response to Trump’s “death and destruction” post, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries called the former president’s comments “reckless, reprehensible, and irresponsible. It’s dangerous, and if he keeps it up, he’s gonna get someone killed.”

Jeffries continued, comparing Trump’s post to the leadup to the Capitol riot, “We’ve already seen the consequences of incitement from the former president. He is principally responsible for inciting the violent insurrection that happened on January 6th. But clearly he has not learned his lesson.”

A number of other Democrats joined Jeffries in condemning the former president’s remarks. California Rep. Adam Schiff evoked the same comparison, tweeting: “Donald Trump is now saying his indictment could lead to ‘death and destruction.’ Only days after calling for protests to ‘take our nation back.’ After January 6, we know exactly what he means, and the consequences. What more will it take for Republicans to stand up to him?”

Threatening a DA is a serious crime. If this dipshit is caught he'd end up doing more time than Trump for the crime he's trying to protect him from.

After January 6, does anyone expect a different outcome? Trump’s diehard supporters would gladly install trump in the presidency, throwing away over 200 years of self determination. The only thing we can do is arrest, indict, convict, and incarcerate.

Cause - effect. This isn’t rocket science. The sooner he is arrested and incarcerated the better.
