In Iowa, DeSantis gets snowflake gift with ‘fascist’ hidden on it

In Iowa on Friday to promote his new book, Gov. Ron DeSantis posed with a gift from a supposed supporter.

The gift, a framed cutout of an intricate snowflake, features the word “fascist.” Steven Goffman, whose profile says that he works for the Washington Post, tweeted that Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds, also a Republican, posed with a copy of the gift, too.

DeSantis was visiting Iowa, introducing himself to expectant audiences of Republicans ahead of a likely 2024 presidential bid.

“We will never surrender to the woke mob,” DeSantis told an audience of more than 1,000 at the Rhythm City Casino Resort in the eastern Iowa city of Davenport, his first Iowa stop as he moves toward seeking the 2024 GOP presidential nomination. “Our state is where woke goes to die.”

One Twitter user said a friend makes the snowflakes for visiting Republicans in Iowa.

"We will never surrender to the woke mob”

Well, if the shoe fits...

Whether he realizes it or not, he's taken his entire act straight out of the fascist playbook. He's a demagogue through and through, and a charmless one at that, but it makes no difference to the troglodytes who worship the ground he stands on. These fanatics embrace his inflammatory rhetoric and the alarmist, culture war propaganda he peddles.

He appeals to their worst impulses, to their chauvinistic and bigoted attitudes, to their sense of entitlement and their persecution complex, he entertains their fears and their phobias, indulges their paranoid delusions, and he does it so artlessly.

It doesn't take any special talent or skill to draw these people in and gain their confidence, just the same scaremongering prattle repeated over and over again to sustain the outrage, the culture war, the prejudice, the antipathy.

It's a culture war that's practically laid the foundation for his career, that's why it's so important for him to keep it going. Republicans like Desantis have poured so much of their time and energy into manufacturing a big bad radical left wing monster and all of its endless schemes and machinations. At this point, I think it's all they know how to do.

That’s some next level trolling.
