This shot was taken from Aoraki National Park, which is a Dark Sky Reserve. The low levels of light pollution allow for some extremely good quality astrophotography.

I normally shoot do composites with mixed focal lengths for better resolution of the sky details, but didn't have the times since I was doing another shoot for the hours prior to this. It's worth noting that the head torch "light" is entirely fabricated, but everything else was shot from my camera.

Gear used: Nikon Z7, Nikkor Z 14-24 f2.8S, SkyWatcher Star Adventurer Pro

Settings:

Sky: 6 frames x 4 rows, each shot at f2.8, ISO4000, 30 seconds. Stitched together in PTGui, then processed in PixInsight.

Foreground: 5 frames x 1 row, each shot at 16mm, ISO6400, f6.3 and 60s shutter speed. Stacked to reduce noise in Photoshop prior to merge in PTGui.

Final blend and adjustments done in Photoshop and Lightroom.
