Portugal. The Man has released a new video focusing on the need for health care and services for the Indigenous communities in the band’s home state of Alaska.

The four-minute clip, titled “Pass the Mic: Alaska Native Health,” spotlights “the organizations working to keep Alaska’s communities of Indigenous Peoples healthy and safe,” including the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium and Healthy Alaska Natives Foundation.

Portugal. The Man’s PTM Foundation charity is also offering exclusive merch items in support of those organizations.

“I am so honored to be able to go home to Alaska and visit these beautiful communities,” says frontman John Gourley. “Their strength and resilience is incredible and something we can all learn from.”

You can watch “Pass the Mic” via the PTM Foundation’s YouTube channel.

Their 2013 Evil Friends is probably the best album ever written in this century about post-modern despair and the fight between trying to let yourself be vulnerable to the horrors happening to mankind versus isolating yourself and pretending none of it is happening. Danger Mouse came through on that one hard. It was (and still is) way ahead of it’s time before any publications would get it. The lyrics on “Hip Hop Kids” scared Pitchfork away and that’s like the most easily decipherable song on the album

Love these guys! They have been activists for many years and also play a hell of a great live show.
