Washington — A group of House Democrats on Thursday filed a resolution seeking to expel embattled New York's Republican Rep. George Santos from Congress, as new details emerge about federal scrutiny into his work for a company accused of running a Ponzi scheme.

The resolution is mostly symbolic and unlikely to reach the floor for a vote, as House GOP leadership has so far declined to call on Santos to resign.

"He should not be a member of Congress, and we are left with no choice but to put a resolution on the House floor to expel him from Congress.

Goldman added that Santos is "not just a simple liar," but a "conman who does not belong in Congress.".

Santos told colleagues late last month that he wouldn't serve on committees while investigations into his activities are ongoing. »

The president of SpaceX revealed the company has taken active steps to prevent Ukrainian forces from using the critical Starlink satellite technology with Ukrainian drones that are a key component of their fight against Russia.

Shotwell’s admission that SpaceX, which was founded by Elon Musk, has prevented Ukrainian soldiers from fully using the technology confirms the long-standing belief that Musk and the company are uneasy with Ukraine’s military use of Starlink.

One senior defense official told CNN that SpaceX had “the gall to look like heroes” while having others pay so much. »

Record-breaking egg profits prompt accusation of price gouging

A farmer-advocacy organization says record-breaking increases in the price of eggs isn’t being caused by inflation or avian flu, as claimed by egg companies, but by price collusion among the nation’s top egg producers.

The average price of a dozen eggs jumped from $1.79 in December 2021 to $4.25 in December 2022.

The avian flu outbreak in 2015 was deadlier but did not produce price spikes as high as those seen in 2022. »

American Cars Are Getting Too Big For Parking Spaces

This approach to designing parking spaces has historically served the parking industry well, ensuring space sizes accommodate the vast majority of American cars and leaving about 20 inches of space for people to open their doors and maneuver on either side.

Increasingly, cars are too big for parking spaces, especially in parking garages and other paid parking lots where developers pay close attention to space size.

While there is no uniform law covering all of the U.S.’s parking spaces, there are design standards that are relatively consistent across the country. »
