Massacre of My Lai, this photo was shortly taken after she and other women was raped. Shortly after this was taken they were gunned down. It was only stopped due to Major Hugh Clower Thompson who landed his helicopter and pointed his gun towards his own comrades to stop them from continuing the massacre. He risked his own life, and lost his career to protect the innocent women and children. What a hero, R.i.p Major Thompson, thank you for doing what's right in the little short life we live.

They are buttoning up their clothes because they had been stripped and raped. They were gunned down in a group moments later.
