Sega has been accused of failing to credit the localization team for Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden release on consoles and PC.

This was reported by multiple people who worked on the localization of the game. The localization producer who worked on the project also shared screenshots that appear to suggest that the team didn’t get their credit in this new release for Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden.

This appears to be related to the FIGS translation team. One of the former localization producers appears to have suggested that the missing credits in the game were brought to the attention of Sega but it didn’t look like they had any interest in adding them to the final release for P3 and P4.

In my goodbye email to the company, I urged them to credit the FIGS teams for all titles, including the one I had to abandon as I left for greener pastures.

It was incredibly important to me that EVERYONE be credited. — Katrina Leonoudakis 📝 #translatorsinthecredits (@katrinaltrnsl8r) January 19, 2023

This is made worse by the fact that the script for both games is not small by any means. There is a lot of text to translate in the game and if the teams had worked hard on it, they deserved to be credited as well.

For shame, you guys. After an entire YEAR of localization, hundreds of questions answered for them on their part, we know how hard those translators worked. We also know they were probably paid WAY less than we were, too.

The least we can do is credit them. — Katrina Leonoudakis 📝 #translatorsinthecredits (@katrinaltrnsl8r) January 19, 2023

The localization producer also talks about getting underpaid for her job as being one of the reasons she left Sega.

That's the worst part. I'm sure this 'little' thing got swept under the rug when they were crunching to get things out. I heard after I left, the project didn't HAVE a replacement loc coordinator for a while, and they had QA (paid min. wage) communicating with FIGS instead. — Katrina Leonoudakis 📝 #translatorsinthecredits (@katrinaltrnsl8r) January 19, 2023

Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden are released for the first time on PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch. Persona 4 Golden was already available on PC but consoles have received the game for the first time after it was limited to the PS Vita and PC. Meanwhile, Persona 3 Portable was also limited to the PlayStation Portable until it finally launched on PC and consoles.

These games are also available to play as part of the Xbox Game Pass for both PC and consoles.

The Persona series is a spin-off of Shin Megami Tensei. Persona 5 Royal was the first mainline game in the franchise to launch on Nintendo Switch while its sequel Persona 5 Strikers was also released.

Look it isn’t Hollywood, there is no agreed upon standard for credits in games and no compensation if it isn’t done a particular way. We should fix that. People who leave mid production are in even less defined territory. So bottom line they are accused of a thing that is customary because others do it but not contractually required unless the localization sub or team has that in their contract. Article didn’t say. I hope they get credit patched.

Something that this article doesn't mention is that the teams were actually credited, just in a different credits menu. They couldn't edit the original credits
