Shrapnel from the drones damaged his plane and he ejected, navigating the burning fighter jet away from the city. He was given the “Hero of Ukraine” award by president Volodymyr Zelenskyy
Too bad they need more of him. If the Ukrainian Air Force has a policy anything like the U.S. armed forces, he's gotta be medically re-certified to fly after this ejection.
