This is my first post here. Lemme try to answer the AutoMod’s prompts:
Not going to be very exciting—this was taken on my iPhone 11 Pro Max, which struggles with night shots. I liked how grainy the photo turned out to be—looks like an illustration or painting something.
As far as the composition goes, this was pretty much my intent for the photo. The weird lighting from the pole security light (just outside of the shot) made it take a little bit of work (a lot of trial and error) during “post-processing” (I think that’s what you would call it) to get the photo appear like what my eyes saw. I like how the road curves off into the darkness and also meets the horizon there, and I like how the subject is dark and stands out on the illuminated road, as well as how that tree kind of draws your eyes down to the subject.
I know very little about photography, but I love it and appreciate it and wish I knew more—and I do plan to learn more. I don’t know theory except for the rule of thirds. I do know when something looks “right” to me and when something doesn’t. But my strategy has historically been to snap a bunch of photos (with a loose intent to compose them well with my dearth of knowledge of how to do that) and see if I managed to luck out and get a good one when I go back and look at what I snapped.
All I have is an iPhone 11 Pro Max. I’d like a good camera one day but I’d rather accumulate the know-how to wield one before I spend the money on it.
Any advice/tips/criticisms are more than welcome. Im serious when I say I know next to nothing about photography so I’d heartily appreciate any input. I’m new to this sub but I think I can learn a whole lot here.

So what kind of flashlight does the kid rock? Hopefully something with some good CRI?
