This is one of those pictures that get more cryptic the more you look at it.
Don’t snakes eat toads / frogs quite commonly? Is it dead? Are the toads instead trying to eat the snake? Where could the snake be heading that the toads want to go?
And are the two / three toads on the right having their own sort of fun?

However, the most intriguing reaction to the viral photograph came from amphibian expert Jodi Rowley, a senior lecturer in biological sciences at the University of New South Wales. Ms Rowley pointed out that the toads in the picture were all male cane toads, trying to mate with the python.
