Thought I might share some more detailed information about this photo. Every year the Canadian Pacific Railway has a holiday train that travels across the country going from town to town, raising money for charity and playing a concerts from one of its cars. This is a bucket list shot for me as it passes through Morants Curve in Banff National park. This spot is relatively close to Lake Louise.

I stitched together a 6 shot panorama. First taking a bunch of images of the train going by on burst mode to get multiple options of the position of the train in frame, then waiting for the train to pass and collecting images of the entire scene you see here. I compressed the scene a bit shooting at 23mm (1.5x aps-c crop factor 35mm equivalent). Edited in Lightroom and photoshop. Lots of the soft light effect your seeing is done in photoshop. I use luminosity masks and tone curve adjustments to have more control over many different aspects of the image.

Oh hey there! Look at what’s on my wall! I feel yours is much nicer, though. I cannot help but feel mine is some sort of weird propaganda, maybe during WW2 or right after? I mean the white font is terrible and the mountains are frowning and the train itself looks goofy. The passengers look like prisoners, too much black for a sunny day.

Too bad I did not realize it when I bought it. I am not sure who the artist is, but they did NOT love this project they were given…

If anybody has any info on this, I would much appreciate it. Tysm and yay Canadian Pacific!
