The Belarusian authorities have ordered the withdrawal of the contingent deployed last week near the city of Brest, in the southwest of the country, near the border with Ukraine.

The Defense Ministry has indicated on its Telegram account that the military units in question are «returning to base» from the Ukrainian border after having carried out work to «test the reaction capability» of Belarusian forces in the event of combat.

On Tuesday, Project Hajun, a military activity monitoring group in Belarus, reported advances by the Belarusian Army’s 38th Assault Brigade deployed in Brest. The contingent was then advancing toward the Ukrainian border that abuts the Volhynian region.

Some of the equipment moved included amphibious vehicles, armored vehicles with personnel on board, mortars, MZKT military vehicles, an ambulance and two tank trucks, among others.

Russia has about 30,000 troops in Belarus. Presumably, they could present another front. I like to think that if they are forced to give up on Ukraine they’ll just annex Belarus and call it a win. Lukashenko’s a patsy, but he’s expendable. Maybe Russian can sell to Russians he was the instigator all along.

Wasn’t there a report awhile back that a lot of the Belarus military commanders basically told Lukashenko that they have zero interest in going to war in Ukraine?
