U.S. Republican Senate candidate Herschel Walker jokingly blamed his wife's "awful genes" for the fact his son Christian Walker was an "ugly" baby.

The comments have gained renewed attention online after Twitter account PatriotTakes shared clips of a talk Herschel Walker delivered to military personnel and civilian staff at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington state.

The video of Walker discussing his newborn son had been viewed more than 200,000 times as of early Friday morning.

The Republican is now facing a runoff election in the Georgia Senate race against Democratic Senator Raphael Warnock on December 6.

In his 2019 remarks at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Walker described his son as a "smart kid" who was "book-wise, extremely smart-streetwise, dumb as a brick.".
