On military bases in the US, everyone stands still during Reveille and Retreat. Cars stop as well but getting out of the car is considered going the extra mile.

We were due to open our doors at 11am, we put up notices that we would open at 11:02 to observe the silence.
at 11:00 and 30 seconds our silence was interrupted by a lovely woman banging on the door to be let in.
i hate people.
