WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. will buy 100,000 rounds of howitzer artillery from South Korean manufacturers to provide to Ukraine, a U.S. official said Thursday, in a deal the two governments have been working on for some time.

Last week a defense official briefing reporters said Ukraine was burning through as many as 7,000 rounds of ammunition a day, while Russia was firing as much as 20,000 rounds daily.

It’s not immediately clear whether the deal opens the possibility of South and North Korean artillery being fired against each other in Ukraine. »

These numbers reflect the findings of the Jewish Electorate Institute poll from earlier this year that cited these as the top two issues for Jewish voters.

To this end, Jewish voters continue to overwhelmingly support U.S. President Joe Biden despite national polarization and low approval ratings.

Even more unpopular than Trump among Jewish voters, however, is Sen. Mitch McConnell, who holds an 85 percent unfavorable rating. »

Biden’s loan relief plan would cancel up to $10,000 in federal student debt for borrowers who earn up to $125,000 annually or up to $250,000 annually for married couples.

Myra Brown, the other plaintiff in the lawsuit, is ineligible for Biden’s plan because her federal loans, originated through the defunct Federal Family Education Loan (FFEL) program, are held by private entities. »
