The Oldest Door in the UK. : This oak door featured in Westminster Abbey is Britain’s oldest and only Anglo-Saxon Door. The door has been standing for over 950 years, dating back to the reign of Edward the Confessor during the 1050s. The door was made from a single oak from Eastern England. The ancient door stands at 6.5 feet tall and is 4 feet wide.

Traces of human skin have been rumoured to remain on the door, but it has been proved to be cowhide. The door opens into the octagonal Chapter House, where monks met every day for prayers in the 13th century and today serves as a storage place for important religious documents

Oh what the hell, I'm gonna bore ya. You know the term "dead as a door nail"? Now why is a door nail dead? Because back in the old days nails were used not once, not twice, but however many times they could get out of them. A house catches fire, go into the ashes and get the nails and reuse them. Ah, but a door....they made those fuckers to stay, so instead of simply pounding in a nail, they'd pound the nail through, and pound on the tip, to cement it, thereby ruining the nail for future use. Therefore, dead as a door nail. Editing to add this. Credit to u/whelmed1 Here is a video of someone deadening a door nail. https://youtu.be/1JOwfKLdRt8

Did not disappoint. We were promised an old door, and that is one old door.
