For the curious, an atrial septal defect (ASD) is a congenital heart defect (CHD) where there's a hole in the internal workings of the heart (https://www.heart.org/en/health-topics/congenital-heart-defects/about-congenital-heart-defects/atrial-septal-defect-asd).

The hospital that performed her surgery is Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. We remain incredibly grateful to all the doctors, nurses, and redditors that showed her such care and love before, during, and after the procedure. We remain in contact with several folks who reached out after the first post.

Much love to all!

Pediatric cardiac crit care doctor here! Glad to see your daughter thriving! I don’t always get to see our kiddos grow up after their recovery so this post brings a smile to my face!

That sad face on the early picture breaks my heart. So awesome that she’s happy and healthy now!
