Pediatric cardiac crit care doctor here! Glad to see your daughter thriving! I don’t always get to see our kiddos grow up after their recovery so this post brings a smile to my face!
This might sound weird, and will probably be buried but here goes.
When i was one and a half, i .the early eighties, my four year old sister died. Her name was Katrine. She was one of the first children to have ASD heart surgery. They didn't know enough about doing these surgeries in children yet, and she did not make it.
What we were told was that with what they learned from that surgery, the next childs operation was a success.
While i don't remember my sister i am grateful and proud of her sacrifice when i read stories like these.

That sad face on the early picture breaks my heart. So awesome that she’s happy and healthy now!
