As a veteran, I find that other veterans who make their (usually short) time in service the center pole of their entire personality are, by and large, the kind of people who weren't good soldiers, by which I mean they were not the kind of people I'd want to have to count on in a pressure situation or a situation where someone might ask them to do some work, or...ever. Basically if I hear someone say they're a veteran and it's not to get a discount at Home Depot, they're probably a tool.
I have no real evidence but I'd bet the vast majority of these super soldiers did a single term and got out.
