MILAN, MI – A prison inmate who admitted to killing a convicted child predator in federal prison a month after the man was sentenced has been sentenced to additional prison time for his role in the brutal assault.

United States District Court Judge Paul D. Borman sentenced Adam Taylor Wright, Oct. 12, to 24 years and 4 months in federal prison for the death of fellow inmate Christian Maire who was beaten and stabbed to death in the Milan Correctional Facility in 2019, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

The sentence will run concurrently and consecutively to the sentences of imprisonment he is serving in other cases.

“Deterring violence inside prisons will always be a priority of this office,” said U.S. Attorney Dawn Ison. “Senseless acts of violence that jeopardize the safety of employees and inmates of the Bureau of Prisons will be aggressively prosecuted.”

Wright, 42, formerly of Springfield, Illinois, pled guilty to second-degree murder, Feb. 10, for his role in Maire’s death.

He was one of three men who were accused of kicking and stomping Maire on Jan. 2, 2019, before stabbing him 28 times and throwing him down a flight of metal stairs inside the minimum-security facility.

Wright’s codefendants in the fatal assault, Alex Albert Castro, 41, and Jason Dale Kechego, 40, are still awaiting trial for their role in the attack.

Wright and Kechego repeatedly kicked and stomped Maire in the head, and Wright prevented Maire from fleeing while Castro repeatedly stabbed Maire. The trio then worked together to throw Maire’s body down a flight of metal stairs, prosecutors said.

Maire had been convicted for leading a group of seven men located throughout the U.S. and Canada, who preyed on vulnerable underage girls from behind computer screens, court records show.

Investigators dubbed the group of men the “Bored Group,” because the aliases they used in online chat rooms, for unknown reasons, often contained the word “bored.”

The group of men used lies, manipulation and fake profiles -- usually posing as teenage boys -- to lure girls as young as 10 into private online video chat rooms, where the girls would be asked to strip, masturbate or commit other sex acts on camera, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. The videos were then distributed to members of the group.

He had been sentenced to serve 40 years in federal prison a month prior to his death.

I am pretty sure this is what is going to happen to that guy in Florida that shot up the school and got life in prison.

There are very good reasons that vigilante justice is not to be tolerated, I am trying to remind myself while reading this story.

So that's a 24 year sentence tacked on top of an existing 40 year sentence? Yeah, doubt this dude cared too much about possibly spending more time in jail.
