"We are now in a strong position to direct all possible powers of Europe to end the war and guarantee long-term peace," he said.

Jeremy Bertino, a top lieutenant to Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio, pleaded guilty to seditious conspiracy in federal court on Thursday, and is cooperating with the Justice Department’s investigation into the far-right extremist group.

He is the first member of the Proud Boys to plead guilty to seditious conspiracy – a major boost to the historic prosecution of the organization.

A 26-year-old man was sentenced Wednesday to life in prison for killing a retired St. Louis police captain as he tried to stop a pawn shop from being looted during racial injustice protests two years ago.

Cannon also was sentenced to an additional 30 years for robbery, burglary and three counts of armed criminal action.

His death drew attention nationwide because it occurred amid protests across the country in response to the murder of George Floyd by Minneapolis police. »
