I have to say, I'm baffled by the number of garbage comments and disparaging remarks - does Iran also have a disinformation machine that's trolling reddit? Or are people really that clueless / callous to what's going on?

It makes me sad to think about the decades lost and what Iran could have become if the religious nut jobs hadn't taken over and if foreign countries hadn't tried to meddle in their government so many times.

I don't expect you to understand the situation in Iran, women are getting arrested or even killed just because their hijab is not up to the regime's expectations. in a place somewhat similar to the "fictional" handmaid's tale dystopian society, even a simple act like removing headscarf in the public and chanting against the regime could easily cost your life.

just a few months ago another Iranian girl published a 6 second video of herself walking in public without hijab. today she is sentenced to 42 months of imprisonment.
