I wanted to capture the fortitude in the architecture. These pillars represent the collective effort made by individuals to carry the weight of the structure/government.
The marble it was made with was elaborate for the time having been made during the great depression but in return its endurance through time has not faltered. Let that with which it represents be no less.

Just on the other side is the Folger Theatre. Right now under renovation, but a lovely Art Deco building. Definitely check it out when they’re done.
My go to for Shakespeare in the DC area.
