When I lived in Japan a bar refused a friend and I service, saying they couldn't allow foreigners, "because of the coronavirus". When we explained that we had begun living there before the coronavirus ever even began, had not left Japan, and were no more susceptible than the average Japanese person to catching it, we were told we were still foreigners and couldn't come in.

Ultimately, we just went next door, but it was still annoying.

I was asked for ID trying to buy cigarettes in Alabama years ago. I showed the lady my Canadian passport and drivers license. She told me I needed to have American ID. I was almost 40.
