Fight it. The same thing happened to me. They claimed there was damage UNDERNEATH the front bumper. A 2 inch scratch. There would be no way that anyone that checked the car before accepting it would have noticed. They tried to charge me $350. It took about 8 emails with them arguing but they eventually dropped the charges. I insisted they prove that the damage wasn't there before I took possession of the vehicle. It was stressful but as I said, they eventually dropped it.

Looks like they also needed to replace the headlight fluid, and was it warm when you picked up the car? They may have had to replace the summer air in your tires with winter air.

You know, like my mechanic says "just stuff nonmechanic folk don't know."

Rented a car recently, it had some dirt down one side. Returned it and they claimed it was 'damage' I said it was dirt. I showed them photos of the vehicle before and after, and then I licked my finger and wiped a bit of the so called damage off.

Learned years ago to take before and after photos every time I rent anything.
