Cyberpunk 2077 fans are waiting for an expansion for the game that was promised since the launch of the game, and while it has been pushed to 2023, an announcement might be due soon.

Gamescom will be starting on Tuesday, August 23. As CD Projekt Red has a habit of making some big announcements there, fans are expecting to hear an update on the Cyberpunk 2077 expansion there. This is not helped by teasing from the official Twitter account which mentioned the upcoming expansion.

On their social media profile, both The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077 accounts were active and tweeting about their IPs. The tweet by Cyberpunk 2077 account simply states “When Cyberpunk-Expansion” in German. The point to be noted here is that Gamescom is held in Germany. The tweet also received replies from the community manager and other developers at CD Projekt Red suggesting it could be a tease.

The upcoming expansion for Cyberpunk 2077 has been confirmed for 2023, so it is not going to launch this year. That said, an announcement regarding its content can be made at Gamescom with a teaser or a proper trailer. Based on the datamine from the game files, this expansion could further open Night City by bringing the areas that remain unexplored from the game like Pacifica while introducing new characters.

Cyberpunk 2077 was one of the most ambitious projects from CD Projekt Red that might be commercially successful but thanks to a broken port for consoles, it ended up being critically panned at launch. CD Projekt Red has released multiple updates for the game that aim to resolve the major bugs and performance issues. While the result might depend on your tolerance for the issues, especially on the last-generation consoles, it has been helped with the launch of the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions that can brute force through the performance issues.

Played on launch (high end PC so very rare bugs, none game-breaking) been looking for a reason to do another playthrough.

Hopefully this is in line with CDPR's Witcher 3 expansions which were basically entire games.

I hope this is true.

They've been talking about this expansion since a month after release, I'm hopeful but this is said once every couple months
