GTA VI will set a new creative benchmark for the Grand Theft Auto series, according to the game’s publisher, Take-Two.

During its Q1 2023 Fiscal Year conference call, the publisher stated that the development of the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series is well underway. It further said that the team at Rockstar Games is determined to once again set creative benchmarks for the series, the game industry, and for all entertainment mediums, just as it has done in the past with each previous mainline entry.

Take-Two further announced that Rockstar Games capitalized on the strong momentum from last quarter’s release of Grand Theft Auto V for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, Grand Theft Auto Online standalone, and the launch of GTA+. Grand Theft Auto Online’s current generation console players increased by over 40% this quarter and are already monetizing at a rate 36% higher than players on the previous generation consoles. Since its launch, the GTA+ premium subscription service that is only available on the new consoles, has experienced steady growth. The GTA Online community remains strong, and its player base is operating at a new normal that is 49% higher than the pre–pandemic first quarter of fiscal 2020.

Previously, Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier revealed brand new details regarding GTA VI’s story and gameplay, including information regarding the game’s protagonist. Based on what he has learned from those familiar with the matter, GTA VI will feature a playable female protagonist for the first time in the series. The Latina woman will be one of two main protagonists in a story inspired by Bonnie and Clyde’s bank robbery.

According to Schreier’s sources, the game was originally intended to be larger than any Grand Theft Auto game to date. According to those familiar with the plans, the early game concept required the inclusion of areas that were modeled after major sections of North and South America. However, based on more recent plans, the map now features a fictional Miami and its surrounding regions. Rockstar’s leadership believes that by regularly introducing new missions and cities to the game over time post-launch, there will be less crunch to deal with leading up to GTA VI’s final stretch of development.

Look I’m ngl, I bet you right now the multiplayer that will exist will be riddled with very expensive basically everything just so you are more inclined to spend 50$ more just to maybe have enough for one thing. They did it with GTAV, they originally did it with RDR2 and they’ll do it again because take two ruins the online space.

At least you can bet the single player will also probably be pretty damn good.
