Ubisoft‘s mythological open-world adventure game Immortals Fenyx Rising is set to receive a Polynesian-themed spin-off, it’s been claimed.

On the Games Mess Decides podcast, Giant Bomb journalist Jeff Grubb read out the following claims from a source he expressed confidence in.

“Ubisoft Quebec‘s sequel to Immortals Fenyx Rising is not a proper sequel. It’s more of a spin-off. The production name of the game is called Oxygen.

“It’s based on Hawaiian Polynesian culture this time around. It still has a God narrator. They try to still be visually stylised but it’s less of a copy of Breath of the Wild.

“It’s in early pre-production, seen some concept art, it’s coming maybe 2025.”

Grubb said his source also knew about Ubisoft’s plan to end development of Ghost Recon: Frontline, which was announced shortly before the recording of his podcast.

During an earning call on Thursday, Ubisoft confirmed it had cancelled Ghost Recon Frontline, Splinter Cell VR and two unannounced games.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora was also delayed. Previously set to be released in calendar 2022, it will now arrive during the company’s fiscal year beginning in April 2023.

Developed by Assassin’s Creed Odyssey studio Ubisoft Quebec, Immortals Fenyx Rising is an open-world action-adventure game about a forgotten hero on a quest to save the Greek gods.

It was released in December 2020 to mixed reviews. VGC’s review called it “a bland Zelda tribute”.

Love Immortals. Really so few games on xbox that convey the feeling Immortals does. We need more games with the "Zelda" energy. A very welcomed light hearted yet surprisingly deep and addictive RPG
