My mom wrote to Charles hoping he would send an autograph for her brother, a huge Sixers fan and basketball player. Instead he drove to their house in his own car and hung out for the day. It has meant so much to my family for my whole life. Barkley is a legend to me, and it isn't for basketball. This is how I remember the story anyway, I could be off on the details of how it happened. I'd have to ask somebody.*

SEE EDIT AT BOTTOM.

My cousin and I were four years old and my memory of this event is running around my grandparents' house screaming, "Charkley Barkley!"

I'm not.working for him, lol, this is just a family tale that we have always had. And seeing his recent publicity, I thought it was a nice idea to show what he did for my family when nobody was looking.

EDIT: Okay so this went a bit nuts and I told my mom about it, and she says that she wrote to Charles telling him about her brother, and not two days later she is sitting at home and gets a call from him. He says to meet him nearby and she and my other aunt do, and he drives them to my grandmom's in his blue jaguar, lol. She said they just pulled into the driveway, no fanfare, nobody knew about it. My grandmom had Cokes and sandwiches for him, was very excited about that, and he went and sat with my uncle for an hour and a half and just talked to him. He also gave him a basketball and a jersey.

My mom has always thought about how much she wants to meet or talk to him again because of what he did for them. She said it really helped my grandmom to know this happened for her son before he died.

Also, my uncle is in this photo... he's right next to Charles.

I saw him at Disney land and asked for an autograph for my mother. He told me it would be 20 dollars. When I went to walk away really sad he stopped me to let me know that he was joking and signed something everyone in my family had. The reason I walked away is because the same thing happened to me with Barry Bonds and he was serious. Charles was a light in my life for pro athletes after that.
