I'm either blindly ignorant or need to get out in the world more, but is this an actual thing? Over here in tea and scone land, filling and then paying is the norm. Stations have ANPR cameras so even if you left without paying you're fucked.

Last time I saw a gas station that did this I accidentally left after pumping and had to go back haha. I was all ready too used to paying at the pump
