I took this photo last week in my partner's parents livingroom. I didn't have my own tripod with me but found a small "gorilla grip" gopro tripod in the house that just about held my camera and balanced it on a chair. Not ideal, but it worked!
I love using long exposures in total darkness and highlighting/"painting" in my subject with a lightsource - it sometimes adds a slightly otherworldly quality to the image as you can end up with lighting and shadow that's almost impossible to recreate with normal exposure and flash/fixed lights.
For this image I first shone a torch behind my partner's head to back-light her, then quickly flashed the torch across her face and shoulders. I then used my phone screen (set to a blue screen) to add more subtle lighting highlights and create the light trail behind her.
This is a 20s long exposure taken on a Canon 60D with a Sigma 18-35 f1.8 lens set at f11, ISO 100.
It's one of my favourite pictures I've ever taken. I hope you like it.
