(CNN) Oslo's annual Pride parade was canceled on Saturday following a deadly shooting at a gay bar that Norwegian police are investigating as a possible terrorist attack.
Two people were killed and eight others taken to hospital after the shooting near the London Pub, which describes itself on its website as "the largest gay and lesbian venue in Oslo."
Police received multiple calls about the shooting at 1:14 a.m. local time, and arrived at the scene minutes later. They apprehended the male suspect three minutes after arrival, police said.
The suspect, charged with terrorism, is a Norwegian citizen originally from Iran, and was "known to the police," but has only received "minor convictions" up until now, prosecutor Christian Hatlo told reporters in Oslo Saturday.
Norway's domestic intelligence service said it was working to clarify whether more acts of violence may be planned after the shooting. The Norwegian Police Security Service (PST) announced in a tweet Saturday that it was "informed about the shooting in Oslo on Saturday."

From norwegian news papers: The shooter was known by the police, has norwegian citizinship, is from Iran and is 42 years old. 2 people have been killed and 21 people have been hurt, the police says this is a hatecrime done to cause fear, two weapons have been confiscated by the police, an older handgun, and an older automatic weapon, police got the report at 01:14 and was there at 01:19 and arrested the assumed shooter, due to this Oslo Pride has been canceled. Of the hurt 8 was transported to the hospital, while 8 was sent to an local emergency room, the two killed was shot outside of Herr Nilsen in Roxenkrantz' gate, which is close to the London pub, civilians helped the police to get controll on the suspect, several sivilians did emergency first aid and treated the wounded on the location. The Oslo police made actions towards multiple addresses in Oslo including the suspects apartment. The bartender at london pub quickly got the guests outside the pub inside, and locked the door.

They won't comment on the motive before they have questioned the shooter and they have all facts. It's always like that, whatever the crime is, the police don't comment on motives straight away. Even when it seems pretty clear what it is.
I'm in disbelief. Waking up to news about a mass shooting in Norway? Can't recall that has ever happened before. (There was obviously the terror attack at Utøya).
Btw it's 2 people dead and 19 wounded atm.
The world is a dark place these days. And yet I did not in any capacity see this coming. My heart goes out to all the people affected.
Edit to add: Today's pride parade in Oslo has been cancelled. It was supposed to be the 40th parade, and a big celebration after two years without it due to the pandemic.
The suspect has been charged with murder, attempted murder and terrorist acts.
