American synchronized swimmer Anita Álvarez fainted during her exercise and was rescued by her Spanish coach Andrea Fuentes. She is fine but she will be further evaluated in the coming days. This happened today at the World Championships in Budapest but she already had a similar incident in 2021.

Ex swim coach here. Never had anyone faint on me but had one of my young swimmers (6) have a panic attack in the middle of the pool and start drowning and I had to dive in after them. An absolutely terrifying experience to have as a coach. Glad they’re recovering well

I gave CPR to a 5 year old girl who had drowned and was under at least 2-3 minutes. She made a full recovery, but I’ll never forget how traumatic and scary it was.

Please get CPR certified.
