In 2013 I took a train from Munich to Rome. When we were going through Austria I was just…floored. It looked like a postcard or travel poster. I had seen those images before and just thought they were edited/photoshopped/whatever. But as we rode through there were literally small homes on steep mountainsides, with these emerald green pastures, and the mountain tops in the background. It was beautiful and peaceful and sooo inviting. I’m from the Midwest US, and have driven through part of the Sierra Nevada in CA.
